Four years ago, when I was at Gordon-Conwell, this is where a lengthy theology paper detailing where I stood on every major theological issue would go.

However, since then, I've come to discover that there are essentials, non-essentials, and grace and unity in diversity.

The Nicene and Apostles creeds are good starting points for what I believe.

I'm working on a brief but eloquent statement in my own words...in addition to basically working full time and going to school full time - so, basically, check out the nicene and apostles creeds for now.

To possibly help with the sad but often necessary job of categorizing....here are three theological positions I might fit into with some caveats to give you a feel for how I live these out:

Generally speaking, I'm evangelical - but maybe more evangelical (meaning good news-ical) than some (ie I want not only to speak the good news with my mouth and invite people into a life-giving relationship with the Tri-une God, but I also want to live the good news with my life, blessings all those whose path I'm blessed to cross)

and pro-life - but maybe more pro-life than some (ie I oppose war, abortion, the death penalty, abuse or ignorance of two-thirds world people, and am avidly seeking the end of the AIDS pandemic which is spreading early death around the world and exponentially multiplying orphans).

I also love Scripture and do believe that it is authoritative for life and belief. But I so love scripture, that I see it as one to have a relationship with - and, in having a relationship with Scripture, I realize that sometimes I see things that aren't there or misunderstand it. That's why I believe Scripture should be interpreted humbly and in a community.

Another place you could go to understand my theology would be the writings of the late Stanley Grenz - for the most part, I'm on the same page as he is.
